Guests can visit the stunning and historical Dubdi Monastery, which is one of the oldest monasteries in Sikkim. Also called the Yuksom monastery, the Dubdi monastery is a Buddhist monastery of the Nyingma sect of Tibetan Buddhism. Sitting on a hilltop and established in 1701, this monastery is about an hour's walk away from Yuksom. It is a very beautiful and peaceful place for our guests to visit.
The coronation throne of Norbugang is the place where the first Chogyal king was crowned. A wall-like structure marks the place where the crowning took place, and people believe that the huge amount of treasure that was given during the crowning might be buried there. In addition to the historic landmark, there is a beautiful garden around it that contains rare indigenous plants and trees. Our guests enjoy the historical site and take in the beautiful garden while walking in silence and peace.
About 10 km away from Yuksom resides this beautiful waterfall. Kanchenjunga waterfall is one of the largest waterfalls in Sikkim and is believed to originate from the Kanchenjunga glacier. It has a height of about 100 feet, and this waterfall was accidentally discovered by a local tour guide. Guests can take in the stunning view of the waterfall and have a memorable day there.
Khecheopalri Lake is a stunning and almost mystical lake that plays an important role in Buddhist religious pilgrimage. The lake is not only breathtaking but is also believed to be a wish-fulfilling lake by Buddhists and Hindus. It is also part of a lot of Hindu and Buddhist folklore and is protected by the government. Except for the monsoon season, anytime is right to visit and delve into its beauty.
It is a beautiful lake located near Yuksom and is considered the soul of Lama Karthok Kuntu Zangpo, who majorly introduced Buddhism there in 1642 AD. A purification ceremony is done by the lamas every year to keep the water pure. The beautiful and clear lake, combined with the mystical element, makes this location unique and a must-see.
